While we were away Keena had a little vacation of her own! My friend Cailtyn took her dogs to Dogtropolis on the south side of Indy when she went on her honeymoon and liked it a lot so I knew that is where Keena would go. Not only was this place only 20 dollars a night (super cheap!) but that included doggy day care where she could play with other dogs all day as well! When I dropped her off the Wednesday before the wedding I had mixed feelings. The owner was so nice and so passionate about the dogs she took care of. She immediately loved Keena but Keena wasn't so sure! She loves people but when she goes into places like that she tucks her tail and definitely plays up her big pouty eyes and sad face! I was really sad when they took her back and actually got very emotional over seeing her go back to her kennel! The thing that made it ok for me was behind the front desk they had a huge picture window that lets you see what is in the back. You know you are in a good facility when they are not afraid and proud to show you their facility! I knew she would be fine.
Having great friends is so amazing and that is exactly what Caitlyn and Logan are to us! Caitlyn drove to Dogtropolis the Thursday of our honeymoon and picked up Miss Louise for us! She said they all loved my baby and were sad to see her go! The owner said that she was very well behaved and listened to her so well! I know that I will be taking her back to Dogtropolis if we need to go out of town again!

Hostel
On our honeymoon we stayed at a hostel instead of a regular hotel. To be honest it was by far the cheapest and that was important to us! I was a little nervous about it but thought it would be fine...especially since I had lived in dorms in college. Haha. It turned out to be fantastic! The staff was amazing and so helpful that we felt like we were home! A bonus for me was our room was right next door to the ladies bathroom and poor old Chucky had to walk a little farther! Haha. We enjoyed it and thought it was perfect.

Honeymoon
After our lovely wedding Charles and I had a wonderful honeymoon planned in Chicago! We had tickets for a train at 6 am on Monday after the wedding. The ride there was very pleasant and we got there pretty early. We were staying at the Getaway Hostel in Lincoln Park Chicago. It was a very different experience from what we have been used to at regular hotels but we really enjoyed ourselves. The staff was wonderful and helped us navigate our way through a fun filled, romantic honeymoon!
When we got the the Hostel we were so worn out from all of the wedding craziness! Right after we checked in we took a nap! When we woke up we got dressed and went to Chicago Pizzaria and Oven Grinders. This restaurant was suggested to me by an interviewer a few weeks before the wedding and it happened to be pretty close to the Hostel. This restaurant was so awesome! It turned out to be one of our favorite parts of the honeymoon! They are known for pizza pot pies which essentially is the pizza toppings in a souflee type dish with pizza dough on top. When it comes out it looks like a mushroom. When they get to your table they put the crust on the plate and it becomes a bowl and they scrape all of the toppings into it! It was so unique and delicious we will never forget it!
Tuesday we went to the Lincoln Park Zoo which was about a twelve minute walk from our Hostel. I am a HUGE fan of zoos so when I saw where the Hostel was located while planning the honeymoon I knew that was something we just had to do. I had never been to this zoo and it is beautiful. We really enjoyed ourselves and saw so many animals it was crazy! Both of us definitely want to go back there again in the future....someday we want to take our kids there to enjoy it as well!
Wednesday we were going to go down to the magnificent mile where a lot of shopping is in Chicago but it was so rainy! Neither of one of us really wanted to go all the way over there to window shop in the down pour! We decided instead to go see a movie. There was a theater not to far from the Hostel so we decided to go see Scary Movie 5 (it was definitely Charles' choice) and had a nice time. We don't go to movies very often because they are so expensive and in Chicago a matinee is 9 dollars!!!! What better time to do it than on your honeymoon though? After that we walked through some stores close by before we tried to catch a cab. I wanted to go to this tappas restaurant but we could not get a cab to save our lives! Charles is so sweet and was trying so hard to get me to the restaurant that I really wanted to go to. I was getting hungry and exhausted and saw a pizza place across the street called Piquads that the Hostel workers had told us about on day one. We decided to try it out and it was amazing! We enjoyed a huge pizza and some beer and really enjoyed our last dinner out in Chicago.
Thursday was mostly about travel. We slept in a little bit and then showered and packed up our things as we prepared to head back to Indy. We had to hang out at Union Station for a couple of hours because it was raining so much we couldn't really get out and do anything. It wasn't too bad until a homeless guy told me I was pretty and asked me to marry him! Hahaha...Charles' laughed about it until the guy started touching me! Creepy! When we finally boarded the train and started our way home. IT WAS TERRIBLE because of all the rain that the midwest got that week! They had to keep stopping and checking the tracks for flooding. A trip that should have take about 4 hours took us almost 8!!! It was very very very long but at least the train has outlets by every seat so we could keep our phones charged.
Overall we had a wonderful time and plan to go back for anniversaries to come. One reason we picked Chicago was because it is so close and we will be able to return in the future. We are so blessed to be able to go on a honeymoon in the first place let alone one that we had so much fun!

What About Keena Louise?
Now that we are all unified in our household as the Furr family (yes that is my new last name!) the big question is what has the star of the show, aka Keena Louise, been up to?! Well, I am happy to say that she is doing amazingly well. For those of you that remember, Keena was a up to a hefty 145 lbs and the vet had wanted her to lose some weight. Well, over the past several months we have cut back her food and she has been playing more and she is happy and healthy at 130 lbs now! If you remember from way back when, she also had some serious hair loss issues! She was diagnosed with "seasonal" hair loss and we give her melatonin for hair growth. She recently went through some SERIOUS shedding (who knew a short haired dog could lose SO MUCH HAIR) but thankfully she still has all of her hair and right now it is extremely gorgeous and shiny now!!! Charles and I just love our biggest fur baby and she is such a huge part of our lives!

New Name=New Beginnings
Oh my goodness it has been almost a year since I have posted last! This upsets me very much! I am the only one to blame, of course, and today I am starting fresh here on LifeWithADane! What have we been up to since our last post??? SO MUCH!!! I cannot begin to list all of the happening that have occurred here but the biggest and best thing to happen was that Charles and I got MARRIED!!!! April 13th 2013 we started our lives together as a married couple! We are beyond happy and feel so completely blessed to have had so many people that care and love us so much! I think the two of us were actually overwhelmed by the generosity we have been shown. We love our families so much and cannot fathom how to begin to thank them all!
I wanted to make sure that our wedding and reception was something that stood out in people's minds. Our minister was amazing and wrote the most wonderful vows for us. She will forever remain in our minds as the woman who helped us combine our lives into one. Once the ceremony was over we went outside to sign the documents and have a little mini celebration! Charles' and I had given our groomsmen superhero T-shirts and matching pins as their gift. I had them all take off their formal wear so that when we went inside it would be party time! When we were announced in we danced all the way down the aisle and the party continued from there! For our first dance we had our dj make a mix and it was awesome! We just got down on the dance floor and everyone loved it! We had the reception that we had always wanted!
Once the wedding had concluded, Charles and I headed back to our hotel. Our bridesmaids and some groomsmen came to our room for a few after party drinks. Our reception actually ended pretty early because all of Charles' family is from out of town and were so exhausted. At first I was upset...thinking that for some reason this meant our reception wasn't a success. I have been reassured otherwise from friends and family who have raved about everything from the food to the dancing! We are so glad that the wedding was such a hit and amazed that it went so quickly! After planning a wedding for over a year it is astounding how fast that day goes by! I hope to post lots of pictures as I get them!

Chaos
Our lives are very chaotic right now! Last weekend was a whirlwind! I had an interview for a new job on Saturday afternoon and then Charles and I went to my company picnic in Lafayette. The picnic was lovely with some free food and prizes....Charles is the only on in our little group that won anything! After the picnic we went to meet up with some of my good friends for one of their birthdays and then to the hookah bar. It was great to finally meet my good friends boyfriend! We really enjoyed our time in Lafayette.
My interview went really well and I am set to go back to meet the people in person today at 3:00 and am very excited. It is much closer to where we live now and it has so many possibilities for my future. It is probably a little premature to be talking about this since I have no idea if I will actually get this job...all I know is that it is looking good! The job is posted from a staffing company so my first interview was over the phone. Once I meet them in person today they will give the staffing company feed back and hopefully they will love me! I can be very convincing and I know that if they give me the chance I will be a huge asset to their company!
I became CPR certified yesterday! I have wanted to do this for a long time but never really looked into how to do that. My boss came up to me and offered me the chance to do it online (paid for by them)! It is exciting for me because I honestly feel better about my abilities in an emergency....even just while watching my nieces and nephew.
My nephew is coming up to Indy to have surgery at Riley on Friday. He has a wide variety of health issues and we are hoping that this procedure on Friday will resolve some of them. I would appreciate any and all prayers that you can send our way. Hopefully I will have good news to report later.

A Good Deed in my Time of Need
I have been going through some rough stuff lately and have been pretty bummed. My uncle recently passed away and I have an aunt who is now in hospice after a long battle with cancer. My nephew also has some health issues he and his parents have been trying to deal with. It is all very stressful. All of that plus I am very unhappy at my job and have been dealing with all of that added stress.
A lady at work and I have been chatting a lot over the past month or so and we often talk about our animals. The other day she came up to me in the morning and told me she had a suprise for me after work. I came out after work and found a table she made for Keena! It's a raised feeder to put her food and water on! I have been wanting one since I got her because raised feeders are really important for great danes to help prevent bloat. Most of them are really expensive and a lot are not even tall enough for her! This table is the perfect height for Miss Keena and I couldn't be happier! This gift and gesture of kindness means a lot to me. For those of you who know me...Keena is very important to me and I want the best for her. I will never forget the wonderful woman who has only been in my life and known me for a little over a month. :)
